Refuse

Flood Brothers Disposal Co. will provide each single family and two-unit property with a 95-gallon refuse two-wheeled cart for weekly collection. Senior residents (65+ years) can request 35-gallon refuse two-wheeled cart in lieu of a 95-gallon.

Additional two-wheeled carts are available for those residents that would be interested; a rental price of $5 per cart per month would be applied. Applications for additional two-wheeled cart rental can be filled out at Township Village Hall.

Collection Information

All materials (refuse, recycling and yard waste) will be collected on the same day, once per week on Tuesday

Time And Place Of Setting Waste Out For Collection: Landscape waste containers, recycling waste containers, and bulk items shall be placed at the curbside of the road adjacent to the covered unit's premises on the regularly or specially scheduled pick-up day or days for such materials. These receptacles and items shall not be placed out for collection before five o'clock (5:00) P.M. of the day prior to pick up and shall be removed from the pick-up area by nine o'clock (9:00) P.M. on the day of pick-up.

Yard Waste

Flood Brothers Disposal Co. will provide weekly collection of yard waste from April 1st through December 15th on the same day as refuse and recycling collection each week.

All yard waste shall be placed in a plastic or metal container with a tight cover, or a biodegradable Kraft bag, of a size no larger than 35 gallons and not exceeding 50 pounds.

We will accept and collect all bundles of brush or limbs, providing the bundles do not exceed a weight of 50 pounds per bundle, are not more than four feet long, are not more than two feet in diameter, do not contain limbs greater than three inches in diameter and are tied with twine.

Bulk Items

As part of the regularly scheduled refuse collection, Flood Brothers will collect bulk items per week on
refuse collection day at no charge. An example, the following items are considered bulk items: mattresses need to be wrapped in plastic, box springs, tables, chairs, and other furniture. Bulk items weighing over 50 pounds require special pick-up. Please call Leyden Township at: 847-455-8616 to schedule a pick up.

Electronics Recycling

Residents can drop off electronic recycling at Highway Garage building located next to our Town Hall or residents can call Flood Brothers office at: (630) 261-0400 to schedule curbside collection.

The U.S. Environment Protection Agency states electronic waste is now the fastest growing segment of our nation's waste. Electronic waste, from computers to TVs, contain toxic materials such as lead, chromium, cadmium, mercury, beryllium, nickel, zinc, and other potentially harmful chemicals. The EPA warns when electronics that contain these materials are not recycled or are not disposed of properly; the hazardous chemicals can contaminate the ground water and present additional environmental concerns.

State Ban

The State of Illinois electronic waste landfill ban is now a state law. Under this state law, electronic waste cannot be collected with household refuse/waste.

Service Rates 2025 to 2026

  • Single Family Refuse/Recycling: $23.21 per month
  • Senior Rate: (65 yrs+) $21.65 per month
  • Additional Cart Rental: $5 per Cart per month
  • Additional Construction Debris: $9.75 per Yard

Billing

Billing is administered by the Township.

White Goods

Flood Brothers Disposal Co. will also provide collection services for white good items (i.e. appliances). Examples shall include refrigerators, dish washers, water heaters, washers, dryers, etc. Appliances: refrigerator, freezer, air conditioner, dishwasher, hot water heater, etc. We ask that you remove the doors from any refrigerator and freezer. After the items are collected, Freon is safely removed (if present) and appliances are recycled. Appliances must be empty. Residents will be asked to call our office 24 hours prior to collection to schedule the pickup.

Construction Debris

Small amounts of "do-it-yourself" projects less than two yards will be collected for free. Additional yards will be charged $9.75 per yard with minimum of two yards.

Anything greater call the office to schedule a special collection. Construction debris must be container in either cans or plastic bags not exceeding 35 gallons in size and 50 pounds in weight. Construction and remodeling debris that cannot be containerized must be securely tied and bundled. Bundles must not exceed 4 feet in length and 50lbs. in weight. Flood Brothers has roll off dumpsters available for rental for larger volumes of construction debris.

Holiday Schedule

If a holiday falls on a weekday or Sunday, (if holiday falls on Sunday, the holiday will be observed on the following Monday) and your regularly scheduled pickup is on or after the holiday, your pickup will be delayed by one day. The following is a list of observed holidays:

Christmas Tree Collection

Flood Brothers will provide a special collection for Christmas trees the entire month of January.
