Refuse

Flood Brothers Disposal Co. will provide each single family and two-unit property with a 95-gallon refuse two-wheeled cart for weekly collection. Senior residents (65+ years) can request 35-gallon refuse two-wheeled cart in lieu of a 95-gallon.

All additional refuse shall be placed in a plastic or metal container with a tight cover or in a bag, of a size no larger than 35 gallons and not exceeding 50lbs. Additional two-wheeled carts are available for those residents that would be interested; a rental price of $5 per cart per month would be applied. Applications for additional two-wheeled cart rental can be filled out at Township Village Hall.

Collection Day

All materials (refuse, recycling and yard waste) will be collected on the same day, once per week on Tuesday.

Yard Waste

Flood Brothers Disposal Co. will provide weekly collection of yard waste from April 1st through December 15th on the same day as refuse and recycling collection each week.

All yard waste shall be placed in a plastic or metal container with a tight cover, or a biodegradable Kraft bag, of a size no larger than 35 gallons and not exceeding 50 pounds.

We will accept and collect all bundles of brush or limbs, providing the bundles do not exceed a weight of 50 pounds per bundle, are not more than four feet long, are not more than two feet in diameter, do not contain limbs greater than three inches in diameter and are tied with twine.

Bulk Items

As part of the regularly scheduled refuse collection, Flood Brothers will collect bulk items per week on
refuse collection day at no charge. An example, the following items are considered bulk items: mattresses, box springs, tables, chairs, and other furniture. Bulk items weighing over 50 pounds require special pick-up. Please call Leyden Township at: 847-455-8616 to schedule a pick up.

Electronics Recycling

Residents can drop off electronic recycling at Township building or residents can call Flood Brothers office at: (630) 261-0400 to schedule curbside collection.

The U.S. Environment Protection Agency states electronic waste is now the fastest growing segment of our nation's waste. Electronic waste, from computers to TVs, contain toxic materials such as lead, chromium, cadmium, mercury, beryllium, nickel, zinc, and other potentially harmful chemicals. The EPA warns when electronics that contain these materials are not recycled or are not disposed of properly; the hazardous chemicals can contaminate the ground water and present additional environmental concerns.
