Biography
Highway Commissioner John "Bucky" Bjorvik is a life-long resident of River Grove. With over 40 years of experience as an employee of the Public Works Department of the Village of River Grove, he has held various titles including Foreman, Water Superintendent and currently Director of Water and Sewer. In addition to his employment with the Public Works Department, he has been a member of the River Grove Fire Department since 1985 and currently holds the position of Lieutenant. These positions have required him to maintain the following state licenses: Certified Water Operators License; Fire Fighter I and II Certifications; EMT-B Certification; and Commercial Driver's License. Bucky is looking forward to serving the residents of Leyden Township in his new position.
Bucky has also volunteered his time as a baseball and softball coach and he is currently a member of the River Grove Lions Club. He has been married to his wife Lynn for 34 years and together they have a son (Kevin) and daughter (Kelly).
