Community Center

Mission Statement:

We are dedicated to building a stronger community through educational and recreational programming. By offering numerous activities and events it is our goal to bring our residents with different backgrounds and common interests together. The Leyden Township Community Center is designed to provide a safe and structured environment to all its participants. Lastly, we strive for the enjoyment of everyone.

Facility Information:

The Leyden Township Community Center opened in 2002, and was renamed the Bradley A. Stephens Community Center in 2013.  It is a 10,000 square foot building, featuring a full size gymnasium, fitness room, two activity rooms and men’s and women’s locker rooms.

Are you looking for a place to have a party or a meeting? Does your team need a place to practice over the winter? If the answer is yes, please give us a call. We rent out rooms for various events at the Leyden Township Community Center and at our Westdale Park location.

Room rentals at the Leyden Township Community Center are limited to a maximum of 49 people. Gymnasium rentals are limited to a maximum of 75 people. Gym rentals are for sport functions only. Room rentals at Westdale Park are limited to 60 people. Alcoholic beverages and smoking are not allowed in either building.

Rental fees are $40.00 an hour for residents, $50.00 an hour for non-residents. A security deposit of $150.00 is also required, if you will be using the kitchen facilities at the Leyden Township Community Center the security deposit is then $200.00.

Fitness Center:

Fitness Center location/hours are:

Monday - Friday: 6:00am - 9:00pm
Saturday: 9:00am - 3:00pm
Sunday: Closed

Our Fitness Center features the following equipment:
Treadmills, Elliptical, Bikes, Free Weights, Benches, Squat Rack, Olympic Plates, Hip Abductor, Hip Adductor, Quadriceps Extension, Hamstring Curl, and a Functional Trainer Cable Machine.

Fitness Center Memberships:
All members have access to our gymnasium and locker room.

We offer a six month and a one year fitness pass membership, from date of purchase, for ages 18 years old and up.

We also offer a reduced monthly rate to seniors ages 55 and above.

Leyden & Veteran’s Boxing Gym:

Boxing Gym location/hours are:
Gouin Park | 2400 Scott Street, Franklin Park

Monday - Thursday: 6:00pm - 9:00pm
Friday - Sunday: Closed

Our Boxing Gym features the following equipment:
Speed Bags, Heavy Bags, Sparring Ring, Weight Equipment and Boxing Gloves.

Boxing Memberships:
We offer passes that are good until the end of the calendar year for ages 8 years old and up - through adults.

Six basketball nets, basketballs are also available for you to use.

Toddler Open Gym Pass:
Hula hoops, scooters, mini-basketball net, bozo buckets, exercise mats, etc.

The Leyden Township Community Center offers a variety of programs for all ages. We publish a new brochure every four months. Below is a list of some of the activities we offer during the course of the year:

Township Boundaries:

When registering for a program, you will be asked to provide proof of residency to qualify for our in-district rates.

You are in-district if you live in Leyden Township. Leyden Township includes: Elmwood Park, River Grove, Franklin Park, Melrose Park (unincorporated), Schiller Park, Rosemont and some sections of Norridge, Northlake and Park Ridge. Please call (847) 451-5144 to see if you reside within the Leyden Township boundaries.
(Veteran’s Park District residents are also considered in-district ONLY when registering for a boxing pass.)

To register for any program simply stop in at the Leyden Township Community Center during our normal business hours of:

Volunteers:

Occasionally we are in need of volunteers to help out with events and/or programs. If you enjoy working with others and would like to help out from time to time, please feel free to contact us.

Donations:

Do you have any new or slightly used board games, arts and craft supplies, sports equipment, or other items that you are looking to discard? If the answer is yes, we gladly accept donations.

New Programs:

We are always open to new ideas of trips and programs to offer. If you have any suggestions on classes or would like to be instructor please give us a call.
