LEYDEN TOWNSHIP SOLID WASTE GUIDELINES HOUSEHOLD WASTE COLLECTION:

Unlimited amounts of household refuse provided it is in approved containers.  Containers should be no larger than 32-gallons and be placed at the curb by 6 A.M. on collection days.  (Fully enclosed garbage bags are also acceptable.)  Reusable containers must have handles.


Regular collection day is Friday.

When a recognized holiday falls on a Sunday through Friday, service is delayed until Saturday.  New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas are recognized holidays.


LARGE BULK ITEMS / APPLIANCES / CONSTRUCTION DEBRIS:
Bulky items and large appliances are also included in the program.  Carpeting should be rolled and bundled.  Bundles should be limited to four feet in diameter and six feet in length.  Bundles should weigh no more than 50 pounds.


Small amounts of construction material will also be collected. Construction material should be no longer than four feet in length or width and neatly prepared. Bundles and individual pieces should weigh no more than 50 pounds each.

Large quantities of construction material will require a special pickup.  Please call Allied Waste Services at (708) 345-7050 in advance to make arrangements for an estimate and special collection or roll off container.
 
RECYCLING:
Recycling is collected at the curb on the regular service day.  Material should be set out in recycling bins.
Paper and non-paper materials should be separated by placing paper material in a paper bag, a second bin, or by placing paper and non-paper materials next to or above and below each other.  Cardboard boxes should be flattened. The maximum size of cardboard pieces is two feet by two feet.  A list of materials collected is attached.  Please do not use plastic bags.
 
YARD WASTE:
Yard waste is collected from April through November.  Material should be placed out in biodegradable paper bags or marked garbage cans no larger than 32-gallons.  Please do not use plastic bags.  Garbage cans used for yard waste should be marked with the word "Yard Waste" in large letters, a large 'X" or the abbreviation "YW".   Markings should be visible from the street.  Dirt, soil, rocks and stones are NOT considered yard waste.
